For maximum power, the P550e pairs a 297 hp three-liter inline-six with the same 141 hp motor or a combined 542 hp and 516 lb.-ft of torque.
The Acura MDX's powertrain options are more limited. The standard 3.5-liter V6 makes 290 hp and 267 lb.-ft. - adequate but far from class-leading. The MDX Type S increases output to 355 hp and 354 lb.-ft. However, it still accelerates more slowly than the base F-Pace and lacks any electrification to boost efficiency.
Jaguar provides best-in-class coverage with a 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty that includes powertrain, bumper-to-bumper, and roadside assistance. The SUV's body panels are even covered for corrosion perforation for six years with unlimited mileage. Jaguar also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. This covers services like oil changes, filters, brake fluid, and more.
In contrast, the Acura MDX has a shorter 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. While still sufficient, it falls short of the F-Pace's coverage. MDX owners will also have to pay out of pocket for routine maintenance visits.
The starting price of the new F-Pace is $58,375 and goes up from there. In contrast, the MDX starts at $53,150. However, with more refined features and more advanced technology, the F-Pace is more than worth the extra $5,000.
The Jaguar F-Pace's plug-in hybrid powertrains provide up to 33 miles on electricity alone before the gas engine takes over, giving it an estimated total range of over 450 miles. The more powerful P550e retains an electric range of 30 miles.
The Acura MDX does not offer any electrified powertrain options. It relies solely on gasoline, giving it a total driving range limited by its fuel tank capacity. While the MDX's fuel economy is competitive within its class, it can't match the versatility and efficiency of the F-Pace's plug-in hybrid setup.
